Legal documents created in Canada normally need to go through the authentication and legalization process before being accepted for use in a foreign country. This process is also sometimes known as the “apostille” system, which was created by the Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents, however, only countries that are signatories to this Convention are bound by the apostille system. Canada is not a signatory to the Convention, and as such, documents intended for use abroad must be first authenticated and legalized.
Deliscar Professional Corporation can assist clients by taking documents to be authenticated at the Official Documents Service in Toronto, Ontario CANADA, the government department responsible for authenticating the validity of a notarial seal on a legal document, among other services. Our firm can also assist by taking documents to embassies/consulates for legalization.
Translations of official documents can be certified, particularly if the translation is required for immigration or educational purposes. For a free quote, e-mail your documents to sdeliscar@suzannedeliscar.ca. Your documents will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
