Brampton lawyer-linguist Suzanne Deliscar knew as early as high school that she wanted to combine her love of languages with a possible legal career — the challenge was how to do it, she tells Lawyers Weekly.

Deliscar became proficient in French after taking an immersion program, studied Spanish and completed a double-major in history and Latin American studies. After graduating from law school, she says the question then became how to attain her chosen niche.

Now a sole practitioner, Deliscar practises family law, wills and estates, and civil litigation — areas which she says came to the fore while she was articling and in her early years of practice. What proved to be more challenging, she tells Lawyers Weekly, was integrating French and Spanish into her practice.
