Brampton lawyer-linguist Suzanne Deliscar has been registered as a lawyer and notary public at the Consulate General of the Republic of Argentina in Toronto, a special designation that will assist clients who need to file legal documents with that country.

“This means that when I notarize documents for use in Argentina, my notarial seal is automatically accepted by the Consulate, and does not require authentication by a Canadian authority first,” she tells

“In Ontario, if a legal document has to go to Argentina and a lawyer notarizes it, normally the document has to go to Official Documents Service where officials confirm whether the notarial seal is authentic and then it is sent to the Consulate or Embassy of the country to which the document is being sent and they legalize the document.”

In some cases, usually if the document is to be used in a foreign country, it may be necessary to have a notary’s seal and signature verified by either Ontario’s Ministry of Government Services or the federal government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
